Castaway AI is operated by ZYEYZ LLC dba Snowy Mountain Software, a business based in Montana, USA. We keep data collection deliberately small. This page explains exactly what we store and why.
What we collect
- Accounts. Reading is fully anonymous and needs no account. If you create an account (for the closed beta, or a future membership), we store the email address and password (hashed, never in the clear) you register with. Nothing more: no name, no profile. You can read the entire story without ever creating an account.
- Newsletter. If, and only if, you subscribe, we store the email address you give us. Subscriptions are double opt-in (you must confirm via a link we email you), every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and we send through our own mail server. We never sell or share your address.
- Analytics. We use privacy-respecting, self-hosted analytics to count page views and referrers in aggregate. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not embed third-party ad or social trackers.
Cookies
We set no cookies for anonymous reading. When you log in we set one essential first-party session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email, which removes you from future sends.
- Log out at any time to clear your session cookie.
Data retention
Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Aggregate analytics are retained only as long as they are useful for understanding readership.
